 Medical Device Design

My experience with medical devices spans surgical devices to consumer-facing healthcare products. Through working in this space I have gained experience:

  • Marrying hardware and software to design integrated electromechanical solutions informed by user insights

  • Collaborating with Human Factors to evaluate usability across a range of factors and conduct formative studies to gain feedback from practicing clinicians

  • Designing within a highly regulated space to develop products within a Quality Management System

  • Working with regulatory and systems engineering partners to ensure FDA approval and compliance

Transaortic Valve Replacement (TAVR) Device

Electromechanical TAVR handles with unique features that improve precision of valve placement while reducing the amount of personnel required for a procedure, increasing efficiency and reducing procedure cost for patients and hospitals

At-Home Quadriceps Rehabilitation Device

User-operated device used to electrically stimulate contractions of a patient’s quadriceps for quicker and more pain-free at-home rehabilitation after knee surgery

Bone Cement Mixer & Injector System

Electromechanical system to automatically mix bone cement and a custom handle used to inject the cement into a patient’s vertebrae. The system enables more efficient non-invasive kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty procedures to reduce patient pain and recovery time
